Do you want to get rid of that gap between your teeth? It is possible! Through a veneer, the dentist can change the appearance of your teeth in a simple but effective way. A veneer consists of a layer of tooth-colored filling material made of composite or a shield made of porcelain.<\/p>\n

Composite facing<\/strong><\/p>\n

A composite veneer requires only one treatment. To create sufficient space, in some cases an extremely thin layer of the tooth surface is removed prior to the application of the composite material. This procedure is painless. The tooth is then coated with a bonding layer, on which the still soft composite is applied and modeled into the desired shape. An ultraviolet lamp is used to harden the material, and finally the facing is carefully polished for a perfect finish.<\/p>\n

Porcelain facing<\/strong><\/p>\n

The placement of a porcelain facing requires two treatments. During the first treatment, a thin layer of enamel is removed from your tooth. Photographs and a dental impression are then taken. In many cases, the dentist will request that you also visit the laboratory for the color determination. Based on this information, the dental technician fabricates a veneer that perfectly matches the rest of your teeth in color and size. In the second treatment, a bonding layer is applied to the tooth, after which the porcelain veneer is placed on the tooth. With proper maintenance, a porcelain facing lasts a long time and is almost indistinguishable from a natural tooth.<\/p>\n

It may take some getting used to at first, but soon the veneer will feel like your own tooth in your mouth. Sometimes sounds can be slightly distorted, especially if the shape of your teeth has been significantly altered by the dentist. However, this uncomfortable feeling disappears after a few days.<\/p>\n
